Pitfalls preventing submission?

There are two more days to go until submissions close for the Anthology of Hope. Have you sent off your work yet? If not maybe you fell in one of the creative pitfall traps I have so often found myself in. Do any of these seem familiar?

“She wouldn’t want to use what I’ve done. Other people will have done much better stuff.”

It’s true that I have been really excited by each piece of work that has been submitted to this project. That’s why I’m really excited at the prospect of seeing yours. The Anthology of hope is definitely in a place where more voices and visions will strengthen it. Please email me at coveneypublishing@gmail.com and I can talk you through the submission process step by step if that will help you out of this pitfall and into the book. I’ve stayed stuck in this one too many times and I don’t want that for you.

“I produced something but I’m not sure it’s really what she meant or about hope…”

Let me see it! Many of the things that are really strong in the anthology are those that the creators didn’t make with this theme in mind. But paired with the other work it suddenly illustrates how things can transform through hope.

There are no right answers here. The strength of an anthology is that we all have different takes on the topic so someone picking it up is more likely to find an approach that works for them on that day.

I am planning anthologies on other topics down the line so the worst that will happen is I’ll have you and your work in mind when they come up.

Comment or email me at coveneypublishing@gmail.com and tell me what you’ve made.

“I started something but I’ve been so busy and now there isn’t time…”

Reach out and talk to me. This is a project that has space for an idea in progress that we hope will be finished for publication so long as you tell me about it before submissions close on 31st August 2018. If you need more time than that to finish drop me an email now at coveneypublishing@gmail.com so that together we can pull your work out of the pitfall trap and into the book.

“I’d love to have been part of this project but I couldn’t think of anything.”

As well as the art and writing people have submitted the Hope a Anthology will include pages with a single brief quote on hope paired with a photograph. These photos can be of landscapes, nature, or things that catch your attention anywhere, at home, at work or out and about. The only subject I do not plan to include here is pictures of people. Photos taken with a smart phone camera will be perfect for this. You do not have to provide the companion quote although I’m delighted to receive suggestions. Snap some photos of anything that takes your fancy and email them to coveneypublishing@gmail.com to be included!

If you have been caught in these or any other pitfalls I hope you will reach out to

coveneypublishing@gmail.com

Let the Anthology of Hope include your work and not just the voices of those who you expect have already submitted. Each new veiwpoint makes the picture more powerful!
